The Financial Consultancy UK Ltd grew out of a practice started by Stephen Milligan in 1998 following ten years of unincorporated trading. Soon after it acquired the firm of Wigan Financial Services and relocated to 41 St James Road in Orrell.

In 2006 the name was changed to The Financial Consultancy UK Ltd to more accurately reflect the mobile nature of clients today and the relocation of a number of the existing client base. It was anticipated that the business would outgrow the premises and in 2007 a building was acquired in East Lancashire which will allow for expansion and will ultimately be the main office for the firm. This new project was originally constructed in 1840 and is due a substantial renovation commencing in 2008.

It was decided to relocate the Wigan office from St James Road to more modern premises in Winstanley Road, just a few hundred metres from the old offices, with the added benefits of free off road parking and 24 hr security for the premises. This makes late afternoon and evening appointments much safer and more convenient for clients, especially in winter.

It is hoped that with the opening of the new premises in Darwen, East Lancashire, further conference facilities and in house services will be added for clients benefit.
