Stephen started his working life in industrial Non Destructive
Testing, qualifying as an industrial radiographer and also as an
ultrasonic inspector. Looking for a further challenge lead him
to join Lancashire Constabulary where he served for four years.
His career took another twist when, in 1988 whilst studying for
Police examinations, he was invited to join a large life insurance
company.
A short and very successful period with a leading banking
group followed, but independence beckoned and since then Stephen
has built his practice around a few simple principles:
- Always put the clients interests first
- Only recommend a product or service where appropriate and good
value for the client’s circumstances
- Explain what is happening clearly and ensure the client understands
the consequences of any action before taking such action
and
- Be available to help when needed
Stephen holds the full Financial Planning Certificate and Mortgage
Advice Qualification and continues to read and study widely to
keep abreast of developments with and without the financial services
sector.
During his career he has served as the Lancashire Regional Chairman,
and Regional Officer, of the Life Insurance Association, and as
a Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute's Society of Financial
Advisers. Stephen has completed terms of office as a School Governor,
Church Treasurer; more recently he has served as Secretary of his
local Lions Club and has been President Darwen Lions Club for two
years 2006/7 – 2007/8.
Stephen has been married to Pauline since 1987 and his hobbies
include reading, music, chess and scuba diving with the youngest
of his two daughters.
